Joe Peterson
Assistant Farm Manager

Joe Peterson

Joe Peterson manages farms in Illinois, Kansas and Colorado, handling diverse crop production and leasing arrangements – cash rent, crop-share and custom crop-share.  Joe stays abreast in professional farm management through continuing education and experience, focusing on key issues in respective management regions.

The success of the Kansas and Colorado properties are highly dependent upon water management.  Through his experiences with these properties, Joe is knowledgeable about irrigation techniques and methods and has developed management plans intended to conserve water.  Joe has additional studies on Section 1031 exchanges, alternative land uses and pest management.

Joe Peterson is a leader in agricultural computerization in both field production and recordkeeping – Precision Agriculture.  A fourth-generation Illinois grain farmer, Joe is a producer, a farmland owner and a tenant farmer working with written and oral leases.  Joe has been in business and presently farms and maintains his Illinois Pesticide Private Applicator license.

As a life-long resident of DeWitt County, Illinois, Joe graduated from Clinton Community High School.  He was a member of the local Chapter FFA and was elected to the office of Chapter Secretary-Treasurer his senior year.  Joe has also taken courses at Richland Community College, Decatur, Illinois, including commodity marketing, futures trading and computerization.
